Our Story So Far
A Fawcett Precision Engineering Ltd was originally founded by David Peaker in 1983, the company was named after Arthur Fawcett who had sold the business to Mr Peaker.
Since our inception, we have overseen emphatic growth, culminating in the acquisition of a much larger, purpose-built factory in Elland near Halifax in 1987. This ideal and prime location has since provided a high-quality working environment and sufficient space for us to continue expanding without compromising quality of service or product, providing a first class CNC Machining service focussed on the needs of existing and potential customers across the North of England, allowing us to create a presence in the local precision engineering community.
In 2008, Mr Peaker decided to retire from the Fawcett’s and his daughter Joanne Thompson, who had worked alongside her father for 15 years, subsequently acquired the shareholding and was appointed director. It was from here that we reached a new level of growth and development, resulting in a more bespoke service and a larger outreach of clients across the UK. New investments in a range of CNC machines as well as up-to-date wire erosion machines made for more precision and a more personalised service that never compromised quality. We were able to begin working in a number of different industry sectors, most notably oil and gas, where we continue to both forge and enjoy trusted working relationships with a number of clients and high quality firms, as well as maintaining the local links and foundations that provided the basis for our development whilst preserving quality of service throughout.
In addition, several key investments were made in both 2012 and 2014, with the former providing us with a new plant that added to our service offering, allowing us to enhance our current quality of service by improving our facilities and machinery. In turn, we have been able to access new markets such as aerospace and automotive, where we can provide the requisite skillset required. More recently, we have acquired a new CNC Lathe – which will be integral to our future growth and offers the opportunity to be more competitive on price, quality and efficiency. In 2011, we became ISO accredited. This prestigious accreditation allows us to reach a different customer base across several industries. In 2018 this was upgraded to ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Quality
Quality management system, staff training, and customer feedback ensure high standards are achieved time and time again.
We offer high-quality, CNC machining capacity and versatility due to consistent investment in modern CNC milling, turning, wire erosion and grinding facilities which has enabled an efficient service from quotations, with realistic lead times, to final delivery.
In addition, we are willing to purchase resources and components to be machined to customer’s drawings or we will machine from customer supplied free issue materials. This contributes to our high-quality, bespoke service and cements our presence in the engineering community.
Our Team
Our long serving and highly skilled staff are our biggest asset, and many have been home-grown through our apprentice training schemes.
We see staff retention as a vital part in producing precision components to the highest quality expected by our clients.
Our work’s manager, Mark O’Brien, has been part of the business for 30 years, starting as an apprentice and has progressed up through the company to his present position.
Our other senior staff member Matthew Brook who is shop floor supervisor again began his career with us as an apprentice around 25 years ago.
Together they form an integral part of the business, guiding through the younger members of staff and bringing multiple years of specialist knowledge and expertise that affirms our presence in the engineering industry. Along with our director Joanne Thompson they have formed the basis of our development and have been with us every step of the way.
